Grupo Lakas is organized
according to the various countries wherein it
maintains a presence, and the industry sectors
of interest. The Group is active principally in
Panama and Peru, but also in the U.S.A. and in
Asia. The industry sectors of interest are power
generation, engineering, maritime services, and
fuel and mineral development.
Historically, the
Group originated with the arrival of Basilio Demetrio
Lakas in Panama and their involvement in the real
estate, fishing and maritime industries. The Group
evolved into an engineering concern dedicated
to developing infrastructure projects in Panama,
and further developing its interests in the maritime
industry.

During the late 1990s,
the Group branched out into fuel exploration and
power generation. During the mid-2000s, the Group
fanned out from its origins in Panama to engage
in power generation projects in Peru. Today, the
Group is consolidating its position in Panama, while
developing projects in both Peru and Panama. Operations
in Asia and U.S.A. are principally holding companies
intended to assist with financing projects in Latin
